The Reimer Clinic is known for safety. We use state-of-the-art endoscope reprocessing procedures to offer the highest standards in endoscope reprocessing.
For added assurance to our patients, our processes have been inspected by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
Here is the standard reprocessing protocol at our Kitchener procedure centre: Each endoscope is first pre-cleaned by hand. All channels inside the endoscope are cleaned with disposable brushes and then the equipment is soaked and flushed in an enzyme-based presoak solution called Medzyme. This surgical instrument presoak cleaner removes proteins and organic matter from endoscopes. The precleaning process is automated using an Endonet scope pre-cleaner provided by Fibertech Canada Inc. Automated equipment ensures a standardized cleaning cycle for each scope, every time.
The endoscope is then placed in a Medivator MV-2 endoscope reprocessor, washer and sterilizer. This thoroughly cleans and high-level disinfects the endoscope using a solution called Rapicide. Rapicide is a high-level disinfectant and sterilant. It kills bacteria, fungi, spores and viruses.
Finally, endoscopes are flushed with 70% isopropyl alcohol and dried.
